How to do PAFF Right!

NEW THIS YEAR:

Interest has been so overwhelming, PAFF has instituted a registration requirement for those wanting to take part in our FREE guided nighttime firefly walks along Tionesta Creek.  We want to make sure everyone has a great experience, and we want to make sure that we're doing our best to protect the fireflies and their habitat.

Registration is Now Closed for guided firefly walks the night of the Firefly Festival; all of our walks are full at this time.

Come out and enjoy all the other fun and entertainment available the day of the festival.  From Noon to 5, visit Nature/Science exhibits with experts and naturalists to answer questions about fireflies and the forest.

We will provide firefly information and maps where you can find fireflies on your own in the forest or your own backyard.  There will be activities for kids and arts crafts vendors until 6 pm.  Live Music and FoodTrucks until 10 pm.  At dusk, if you can be patient and willing to wait by the campfire, we will be happy to put you on a "stand-by" list in case of no-shows.

Come just for the day...

Although you can only see the fireflies at night, the PA Firefly Festival offers a whole day of fun before it gets dark!  Between Noon and 10 pm, you can experience educational exhibits, shop local arts and crafts, enjoy live music and food and participate in fun activities for the kids.

If you are coming for the day, we suggest you dress appropriately for the weather and hiking.  If you're staying until evening and plan on participating in a firefly walk, sturdy footwear suitable for hiking in rough and wet conditions are important, as are long pants and a long sleeve shirt.  Don't forget your bug repellent and sunscreen!  A portable camp chair is a must to give you seating for the music, and later in forest to provide you comfort while viewing the fireflies.

You may want to bring a picnic or beverages, but there will be food vendors on site and water will be available.  Absolutely no alcohol or drugs are permitted on site. Use or possession will be grounds for expulsion from the event.

Trained volunteers and naturalists will be available through out the festival to provide information about the fireflies, the area and "Firefly Viewing Etiquette". We encourage you to find a volunteer to help you optimize your experience and learn how to protect the habitat of this unique natural phenomenon.

Stay for the night...

Visitors to the festival after dark can expect to see the firefly displays after 10 pm.  Firefly walks
